We had a great time in San Antonio. Unfortunately, due to Hurricaine Katrina, many of our friends and families had to cancel their trips. You were missed greatly.

Hurricaine Relief
$1000 was donated to the Hurricane Relief Fund in the name of our Association. Jack and Claudette Chapman's daughter, Debbie DeMarais, arranged with Child Protective Services to reunite missing children with their families, providing airfare with our donation. Debbie and Tim Casey's wife, Nita, volunteered 56 hours helping at Kelly AFB. Tim Casey gave two weeks of his time helping with Hurricane Relief.
Tootsie Rolls
Thanks to Dixon Poole for arranging with Mary Willis of Tootsie Roll Industries, Inc. for the donation of Tootsie Rolls. Several of you asked what the story was behind the Tootsie Rolls. Tootsie Rolls are a historical footnote in the story of the Chosin campaign. By most accounts, Tootsie Rolls and other candy products were air-dropped to the breakout column at Hagru-ri. They provided a quick energy source in the deathly cold of the 1950 winter, when regular rations were too frozen to consume.
Mariachi Band
Thanks to Oscar Cortez for hiring the great mariachi band that entertained us during the Tiger Chop Chop and during our banquet happy hour.
CRSC and VA Representatives
Special thanks to Rita Richardson and her ladies from Headquarters Air Force Personnel Center, Randolph Air Force Base, Texas. Rita and her ladies were on site Wednesday, 9/7 and Thursday 9/8/2005, to spread the word about Combat-Related Special Compensation (CRSC).
Virginia (Ginger) Raney, Coordinator POW, VA Regional Office, Waco, Texas was kept busy Thursday, Friday and Saturday morning. Ginger mentioned, "there isn't a greater honor than meeting and serving the Ex-POWs."
