MSGT Albert W. Vaillancourt
I am the son of MSGT Albert W. Vaillancourt. My father was in Co. L 3rd BN 8th Cav Regt. And was captured along with most of his company during the battle at Unsan. I am seeking information as to how exactly he died in camp #5. If you or any of your members could help it would be greatly appreciated. My mother is still alive and in 1998 with my help we had my fathers body moved from Billerica, MA to Arlington National Cemetery. The only other thing that my mother had requested is that we have his cause of death changed from malnutrition, to he died of wounds. I have been told by several members of the Massachusetts Chapter that he had his foot amputated due to wounds and gangrene. If I could find several other survivors from camp #5 to verify this in writing the U.S. Army will have his death certificate changed.
Respectfully Yours, Rev. James A. Vaillancourt
Please email Rev. Vaillancourt
